Yes, that's true, that the multibuild scripts aren't using the usual activate path for the virtualenvs. Sorry if I am not understanding, but is the warning the problem that you get from this?

My fault, I did not completely explain myself, because I'm not 100 % sure.
I believe that the modified PATH might have something to do with this failure in Travis CI PyPI deployment:

OK, it turns out the Travis PyPI deployment was cleaning up the working directory with git stash --all, hence deleting the venv directory where twine was being installed.
Adding skip_cleanup: true to my .travis.yml fixed the issue.
Closing this as solved.
