blocklists's Introduction

NextDNS CLI Client

NextDNS CLI is a command-line tool that allows you to use NextDNS's DNS-over-HTTPS (DoH) service with advanced capabilities. Although the most advanced features will only work with NextDNS, this program can work as a client for any DoH provider or a mix of NextDNS + another DNS (split horizon).

This CLI is mostly aimed at routers and UNIX based systems, but it is also a great client for Windows and macOS, especially for people who prefer a fully open-source client and don't mind the lack of a GUI.

See the wiki for installation and usage instructions.

ZuckerBlock : a hosts file to consider.

Hello again! Here's one more for consideration. I only finished compiling it a few days ago, hence its lack of "stars". In theory it should block every digital property owned by Facebook LLC, including Giphy and Libra. I'm sure it is incomplete just like any other hosts file and that it will evolve as both myself and others discover not yet included hosts, those that need not be included, as well as digital properties yet to be acquired by Facebook LLC.

I hope it may be of use either in its entirety or in part. I've purposefully Licensed it to allow for reuse in any way.

nextdns/services#6

Edit: Moved development to GitLab as it simplifies my workflow. Here's the repo:

https://gitlab.com/intr0/zuckerblock
& the raw hosts file:
https://gitlab.com/intr0/zuckerblock/-/raw/master/ZuckerBlock.hosts

&&

https://iosprivacy.com/zuckerblock/ZuckerBlock.hosts

=> updated v2.20.7.1;
Each entry via self discovery;
Goal changed to blocking main FB properties/services.

[REQUEST] Add antipopads-re (another antipopads list)

Hello! I didn't know where to request for adding source, so requesting here. I am maintaining an anti pop-ads source, highly inspired from antipopads by Yhonay. But Yhonay hasn't pushed any update lately, so thought of reviving the project with more pop ads domains by automatically grabbing them from their sources.

Lists are being automatically updated and filtered every 2 hours.

[New List] OISD Extra

https://oisd.nl/?p=dl

"This contains controversial domains (doubleclick.net, google-analytics.com, googleadservices.com, googletagmanager.com, googletagservices.com, amazon-adsystem.com etc)
(Extra = Basically the domains that are on the default Pi-hole and Adguard Home lists that are excluded from the oisd list because they are known to cause problems when blocked.)"

Add Blocklist: Session Replay

Session replay is the ability to track a visitor's journey on a website or in a mobile application or web application. Replay can include the view of the user, user input and logs of network events or console logs. Data such as e.g. Credit card numbers are collected. The Session Replay Blocklist blocks the best-known Session Replay providers. This helps to disseminate your own data as little as possible.

Yahoo related subdomain breakage (guce subdomain)

Some websites wouldn't load if the guce.* subdomain is blocked. This has something to do with how Yahoo handles cookies. All these websites seem to use Yahoo in some way.

I can confirm that:

  • login.yahoo.com won't work if guce.yahoo.com is blocked -- after login it tries to reach that subdomain and stops
  • techcrunch.com won't load if guce.techcrunch.com and consent.yahoo.com is blocked -- it won't load at all

Someone else confirmed this issue for other domains: lightswitch05/hosts#188 and migueldemoura/ublock-umatrix-rulesets#10

The Quantum Ad-List

Add support for The Quantum Ad-List in NextDNS blocklists.

About The Quantum Ad-List

Made an AI to track and analyse every websites, a bit like a web crawler, to find and identify ads. It is a list containing over 1300000 domains used by ads, trackers, miners, malwares, and much more!
It is specifically designed for hosts file, but can also be used with ad-blockers with the ad-blocker "optimized" variant.

Add Lockdown Privacy to Blocklist Options

Lockdown Privacy has an app available for apple devices which is focused on blocking trackers, in some cases this is the level of protection. people want,, it installs a VPN client to block apps but this causes a slowdown on devices and internet speeds, having it available via nextdns would be much easier plus it would allow users of windows and android to get the same protection

Their block lists are located at https://github.com/confirmedcode/Lockdown-iOS/tree/master/LockdowniOS

Personally I would like to see this in your lists as I'm struggling to understand all your others lists as information is vague and referring to the GitHub links doesn't help at all, even finding which of the turned on lists is blocking something you don't want blocked is impossible as you don't list that in the logs, the lists above do have some sense and can be added separately to suite individual wants and needs and without more detailed logs from nextdns stating what list or lists the block is coming from the lockdown lists options would make more sense to try to locate the block and if it is wrong report it to you.

Suggestion blocklist for turkish users

Please add adguard turkish filter to blocklist. I used nextdns recommended blocklist but it is little bit issue on some turkish pages. I want to use adguard lists for example this combination (adguard base + adguard turkish).

Add blocklist โ€” AdGuard Spanish/Portuguese filter

{
    "name": "AdGuard Spanish/Portuguese filter",
    "website": "https://kb.adguard.com/general/adguard-ad-filters",
    "description": "Removes ads from websites in Spanish and Portuguese.",
    "source": {
      "url": "https://filters.adtidy.org/extension/ublock/filters/9.txt",
      "format": "abp"
    }
  }

website is missing the identifier in the url.
