Create an architecture diagram about nilmtk HOT 5 CLOSED

I like diagrams ;) Do you want to do this? If not, I'm happy to give it a shot after I've finished my other work ;)

Perhaps we should have a docs/design directory in our repo for storing things like the SVG of the architecture diagram?

If we're really pushed for time then I think we can get by without a diagram; but a diagram would be lovely if we do have time to make one!

I was actually thinking of putting some diagram which we use for the paper as well. I have seen people draw such stuff in MS Powerpoint and it is not that tough there.

I have a few papers in mind which do these things pretty well. Should I put them up on GIthub or GDoc?

A system diagram would be lovely for the paper ;) Maybe we should wait a little while until the architecture has started to stabilise; it's much faster to modify text than a diagram. I'd definitely advocate authoring the diagram in something like SVG so it displays well both online and in LaTeX. I've used Inkscape for this in the past and it works well.

Regarding the existing papers that already do this well... would it be easiest to just put links into this discussion? If not then I'd favour putting them on Google Drive rather than github (which, IMHO, should really be just for our own code and documentation).

Ya. We can wait and get clarity before we proceed with this. I think all of us have a decent idea regarding the flow.

I agree that an architecture diagram is essential for the paper, and probably very useful for the website.

I've also used Inscape to draw SVGs for LaTeX papers, and as far as I know this produces the prettiest graphics. I'm also happy to help with creating the diagram, though I think we should hash out something rough during a call together.
