@webdevxp current version of CodeIgniter indeed doesn't have latest OOP features and therefore promotes bad coding practices, but the framework list is still trying to not exclude any open source project related to frameworks. Instead what we'll do is promote better practices more than the bad examples. Removing CodeIgniter from the list is not yet on the roadmap. From what I see there should be a new version also available in the future, so it is not like the project is dead or something. But yes, would be good if they would keep up with the other modern and much more innovative frameworks. Hope this answers your question.

I asked this question because I saw many people (not only in your group) are in the same page that CodeIgnitor should not be promoted anymore and many of them also consider some framework introduction articles to be poor quality if they see CodeIgnitor in list. I just don't want php.earth to be like that. 💛
BTW, this is just my opinion. 🌮

@petk I think I can do this. IMO, mysqli is still worth including because it can be an easier way for whoever is using legacy mysql extension. If you are OK, I'll create new article about mysqli. ✌️

@petk This is not related but I would like to ask here. Should we remove CodeIgnitor from framework list? This could make php.earth more distinctive.

Closing the mysqli tutorial as won't fix. Not on the roadmap. Probably PDO should be highlighted slightly more than this. Besides, PDO is not that difficult to begin with instead of mysqli.
