you need to double escape. /browse/:id(\\d+). you always need to double escape when creating regexps through strings.

please confirm!

Double escaping seems to break it completely. Here's a screenshot of what I'm seeing.

@ForbesLindesay The issue is with string interpretation in JavaScript and in browser fields. In the browser we don't need to escape backslashes since they hold no special meaning. If you want to run the input as if the user had written it in JavaScript, the best bet is probably to construct it again - new String(value).toString() will be what you're after.
