Async pubsub subscription misses messages about redis-rs HOT 3 CLOSED

I'm still trying to pinpoint exactly what happens, but I have a suspicion - let msg = pubsub.on_message().next().await.unwrap();
on_message returns a stream, and you're only taking one value from the stream, and then dropping the stream. The stream is supposed to be a long living object, not a single-use object.

You'll see "/test/3 received "2"" if you'll change your final loop to

  let mut stream = pubsub.on_message();
  loop {
      let msg = stream.next().await.unwrap();

      let channel: String = msg.get_channel().unwrap();
      let value: String = msg.get_payload().unwrap();

      println!("{channel} received {value:?} ");
      sleep(Duration::from_millis(2500)).await;
      println!("------------------- Waited 2.5 sec");
  }
