Hi,
I'm trying to update the Debian package of spoa to the latest version. Unfortunately spoa is simply using a Git submodule to the latest commit which is not compatible with Debian policy. We need to package libraries separately to avoid code duplication. While I simply could package the latest commit of bioparser this is not the prefered way of maintenance. We rather prefer tagged releases to know whether upstream is considering some commit as ready production in contrast to a random development commit.

Hi,
I intend to create an official Debian package from bioparser. To make sure that all works correctly I'd like to run the provided test. Unfortunately I'm not that familiar with googletest. What I tried is cmake . which created a ''Makefile''. But this does not feature any test target. Please add the steps users need to do to your documentation.

It seems that bioparser does not store the full read name when parsing fastq (if the name is very long). Is there a way to achieve that behavior?

Currently bioparser only supports parsing of the SAM format as a tab-delimited file. Implementing a parser that is htslib-compliant would not only allow parsing of BAM as well as SAM (possibly even CRAM) formats, but would be a little more future proof and give free access to additional optional tags.

A C++ header-only library should install its headers.
