  • Avatar: it's been a circle for most of Memberlite history.
  • Button: currently they transform (shift up a bit) and "lighten" on hover.
  • Code and Preformatted: background color using a grey from the theme palette.
  • Comment Template: card-like style
  • Gallery: I'm not a fan of galleries where the image caption is over the image. If we can avoid that (so hard to make accessible), with styling I'd be a happy camper.
  • Heading: Aside from the font not sure we are customizing much here.
  • Image: styling the caption to be accessible color and font size are important to me. I'd like a shadow block style (slightly rounded corners) for this that is the "default" when a new image block is inserted.
  • Latest Comments: I doubt this is used much, but I could see it having a strong style that would be used if we built full-page patterns for the Membership Account page. Some example dashboards I help people build include community-type info fed into the account page.
  • Latest Posts: Should be styled like the other query / loop blocks in cards or as a block style that's an option on loop items.
  • Navigation and Submenu: Use the heading font family, what else? color of submenu dropdown / subtle box shadow and card-like.
  • Author: Card like, we will use this in the single post template.
  • Pullquote and Quote: I've historically bundled an icon font like Font Awesome in with my theme to achieve a big pull-quote style. We don't have to do this, but I can show you examples.
  • Separator: I'm not a fan of the dots or "default" short line. What do you think? I'd be down to remove those two styles and make wide line the default and only. Let's set it to a grey, not black, as default.
  • Table: Tables are using in a few core PMPro blocks, so we want to make a table inserted with the editor look the same as those we add on frontend pages (Membership Account page and Membership Levels page).

I see some fun experimental blocks, but I'm not gonna comment on those all here, except the form blocks.

Form and the various blocks within are new to me. Are these usable even though they are experimental? This would be amazing as a way to set defaults in the theme.json, but I imagine they will only work in those wrapped in the form block, not carrying over throughout PMPro forms, Ninja/Gravity Forms, etc.

If we can, contextual form message block styling could also carry over to PMPro frontend contextual messages (dream).

Note: for PMPro, many of our elements support a filtered in css selector using this filter: https://www.paidmembershipspro.com/hook/pmpro_element_class/. This could be used to filter in core WP block selector names and "cheat" carrying over the form styling, for example.

I have honestly had limited 'success' with the form block myself. I can't typically get it to send correctly and that makes me question recommending it at this stage. I do feel it's close though so in a few cycles would recommend.

Let's also style the details block - this will be important for FAQ for pricing page layouts and potentially FAQ patterns.

I have styled most of these now in theme.json but some might need 'adjustments'. I also added some more template parts to #6 for discussion.
