The real problem here is, that when you build a ROM and change build mode, the ROM in build/output.vb does belong to the mode you previously built in, but no longer the current. The solution here is to, on build mode change, copy over the file build/[mode]/output-[mode].vb to build/output.vb, or delete the latter if the first does not exist, to ensure that build/output.vb is alway in sync with the current build mode.
