Any idea what the Chef 12 RC does? It's more likely we'll address this in Chef 12 than here.

This also seems like something that this RFC is trying to address: chef-boneyard/chef-rfc#44, but I might be misunderstanding the RFC, since I only glanced at it.

I currently try to get Chef 12 RC running inside a docker container and there are some issues related to upstart. I hope we're getting to systemd in the end as this seems to be the most viable solution for the future. But for now I hope I can get it to work with upstart.

I'm going to close this, since it won't be added (by Chef Software, Inc., at least) to open source Chef server 11, but if anybody is interested, they should open an issue on chef/chef-server and it can be tracked there. Thanks!
