This is a great algorithm, but the results i got are different:
The 2 males: 0.85, 0.87
The 2 females: from 3.5

Is there any paper that you used for the range and also algorithm?

It does not seem to work with CRAM files, am I right? Any suggestion for modifications so that the script can take CRAM files too?

Hi,
Handy bit of code! My output ranges from 2 to 33 though and are highly correlated with the different sequencing experiments (same cell type, different depth of sequencing).
for example: output from idxstats
chrX 156040895 2053582
chrY 57227415 46874
yields a ratio of 16.3750, subject is male.
Any ideas?

I wanted to check the sex for my samples. I tired 10 bam files and it is giving be output like this for all files
