icy-kernel's Issues

Plugin "hot" re-install fails

I've installed one of my plugins to try it out, then I updated some info on the web site (icons and other stuff), but the changes don't appear (probably because the plugin version hasn't changed)

So I decided to delete the plugin and re-install it, but it no longer appears in the toolbar, and I have to restart ICY to see it again...

Incorrect automatic memory setting on 32 bits system

At first launch ICY try to define a default max memory setting which is something as TotalSystemMemory / 2. If the available memory is > 3 Go then automatic memory is set to > 1.5Go, which is not going to work on 32 bits system (as win32).

Bug reports for plugins should narrow down the Exception type

when a bug report is submitted on a plugin, the stack trace lands on the bug report page, but always appears as "Exception: error message", whatever the exception type.
Apart from simple cases like "Exception: null" which refer to NullPointerException, it gets a bit hard to debug.
Would be nice to narrow down the exception type in this report. For instance, in the general bug report, the problem is the same way, but below the exception there is a "caused by" section with the full underlying exception name.

Copy sequence plugin

We had an existing copy tool for a whole sequence, this tool is now missing, so we should put it back, either in the operation of the kernel or by a plugin, but we need this feature since our process-politic is to change the data of the given sequence to avoid a too large memory consumption !

Plugin can start behind other windows

Hi,

When an IcyFrame is added to the main desktop pane, it's not in front position (z-align). So people may miss that they actualy launch their plugins.

Make preferences unique per application folder

The preferences are common to all ICY running on the same computer. This can be a problem if several ICY ( let's say one normal and an other of dev ) are running. Or even if the computer is shared, so different setup are needed...

loop dependency

If a depency loop exists in the plugin definition, the install fall in an infinite loop

Workspaces delivered with ICY should be enabled by default

To avoid providing an empty application, it would be good to bundle it with a number of plugins, already organized in workspaces. At the moment workspaces are not loaded if they are not in preferences. So at first start all presents workspaces should be set as enabled

Confirmation at workspace download

when a workspace is downloaded, the user can close the window while the download is in progress and will not see the poping window 'restart icy'
