Local Translation Offset seems to do nothing

First of all I'd like to thank you for the brilliant plugin!
I can't figure out how to use Offsets > Local Translation Offset. It doesn't work for me, whatever values I use. Is there a bug or am I missing something?

Mysterious crash with mayapy and reference

On top of the initialize / uninitialize problem in mayapy which I submitted a pull request, I found the plug-in to crash mayapy when referencing a scene with this node.

Summary of my test cases:

  • NO CRASH in GUI mode, either opening or referencing
  • NO CRASH in mayapy when opening (not referencing) the scene with this node
  • NO CRASH in mayapy if I manually loadPlugin() before referencing the scene
  • CRASHES mayapy when referencing the scene w/o manual loadPlugin()

The test above is done on Maya 2015 and Maya 2016 on Linux (Ubuntu 12.04).
I can also test on Maya 2015 OSX.

Let me know if I can do anything to help the test.

Instancing without attribute callbacks

Goal

Implement a way to perform the instancing in a way that doesn't require attribute callbacks

Description

Currently the instancer relies heavily on Attribute callbacks to update the instancers. In ROADMAP.md it is mentioned that removing this behavior would be optimal and describes three possible solutions with their possible downsides.

To discuss the possible options I'm starting this issue to see if we can get to a good solution.

mapping a texture to attribute

would be great if we can connect a ramp to amplitude, currently the connection is possible but the effect is not working.

i guess the plugin need to map the u or v coordinate to curve length.

this feature will create very nice animatable effects.

Instance group with multiple meshes and materials

Hi,

We are trying using the plugin with a group that has many meshes with different materials. When we execute the script, the meshes look black and it does not render correctly, is there any limitation about this? I saw that your node has an attribute for shading group, only one shader is expected?

Plugin doesn't seem to be working in Maya 2018

Followed the steps to install the plugin, as well as trying to execute straight in the Script Editor.
I can only see the entire script being printed in the output, with no effect on the selected curve and object.

No exceptions or any errors. Any direction would be really appreciated.

Rendering

Hi, i'm trying to render my project using your plug in and I have attached some mental ray textures onto the instanced objects. I tried to apply the material to the whole thing at once or to each individual instance and still no luck. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
