Add option to count bad cuts as missed

I would really like to have bad cuts show up in the miss counter. I know, the base game does not do this in the level finished screen, but every elsewhere in the community a bad cut is considered as a normal miss. I came across this when watching videos from the Cube Community youtube channel where people got consufed in the comments because the miss counter didn't go up but the multiplier went down from 8x to 1x.

Maybe it would be nice to have an option for this called "count bad cuts" in the counters+ miss config menu?

CountersPlus.ini gets overwritten with defaults on game start

How to reproduce:

  1. Make changes in CounterPlus settings in game
  2. Quit game
  3. Check CountersPlus.ini matches what was set in game
  4. Open game
  5. Check that CountersPlus.ini is now overwritten with defaults

This does not just apply to the first time the game is started after CountersPlus is updated but every time the user quits and starts the game again.

Counter+ soft locking in fpfc

When getting into Counter+ menu with the fpfc (steamVR) vers, nothing is clickable and you cannot go back, resulting in soft locking you on the Counter+ menu (actually I wanted to access it without my headset so I could esaly change my set up for replays)

Broken on 1.6.2

Using even the latest version you have here (1.8.0.-beta 1 currently) the mod is broken in Beat Saber v1.6.2.

The mod shows the counters when in game as it normally does but the menu to change or select or do anything with the mod is just blank.

You can enter the Counters+ menu thought the mod settings menu and you are presented with the 3 options at the bottom and the description page to the left but no clickable or even visible mod settings under each of the three options.

Counters+ progress counter not showing up

Describe the Bug
Hi,

I'm having trouble with getting the progress ring with time to show up in Counters+. Usually it was under the life bar, but now it's not and I've been unsuccessful in making it show up. Turning on and off any options in the progress tab doesn't do anything when I get into a song.

Probable Culprit
No idea. It worked before, but now it doesn't... I've rebooted Beat Saber back to 0 via full uninstall (steam uninstall + folder removal), then put the mods back, to no avail.

Hiding the combo counter

I don't see a way to hide /move the combo counter (and ring).
Would it be possible to add this as a setting?

[2.0.0.0] Rank not displayed in score counter

Describe the Bug
I have the 2.0.0.0 release according to the file version of the .dll itself (installed recently). Everything's working fine, except the rank for the current song doesn't seem to be displayed in the score panel. It has never been displayed, even in the v2 development builds. I thought it was one of the issues you were fixing after the RC.

Gig Grey-ish Square showing up when Clicking

Hello Hello !
I have noticed that whevener I clicked something after I have been in Counter+ menu (no matter if I din't change something or not, I just need to enter and get out of it) I have a grey square showing up (seems like a animation but there is no transparency nor the teture it is supposed to show). the square is animated and shows up on whatever I click, main menu, maps, options, other mods, party, multiplayer menus, etc. If I don't enter the menu after rebooting the game, it doesn't do this ! so it is okey as long as you don't wanna change something.

[1.2.0] Settings are not saved

How to reproduce:

  • Open BeatSaber
  • Change a setting inside the Counter menus (i.e. Notes enabled)
  • Start a song (verify that Notes are visible)
  • Exit the song
  • Try to change the same setting (i.e. Notes disabled)
  • Start a song (verify that Notes are STILL visible)

The settings are only saved the first time before playing a song. After a song has been played, no more settings are saved until you exit out of the game and reopen it.

Percentage not shown while playing

The score counter does not show rank or current percentage while i am playing a song. Reinstalling the game and all mods did not fix this issue.

Probable Culprit
The main changes I saw in the log zips myself were an update of BS itself (1.9.1 -> 1.10.0) and an update of Counters+ (1.8.4 -> 1.9.0)
Also, after some back and forth messaging, you mentioned that issue #51 might be related to this.

Counters+ Bobbing up and down

Describe the Bug
The counters+ is bobbing up and down a little later into a song on the newest version of beat saber. It bobs up and down higher and higher and lower and lower.

Accuracy/rank counter positioning bug.

Describe the Bug
The accuracy and rank counter shows up in the middle of the lanes rather than on the side, below the combo.

Live rank (e.g. A, S, SS) and percentage won't appear under score

Hi! Thanks as always for updating Counters+ to work with the latest Beat Saber client.

Sadly, I'm encountering an issue where both the live rank (e.g. A, S, SS) and the percentage of the current max score it's calculated from refuse to display beneath the score. I've tried enabling and disabling the relevant toggle switch under settings, changing the colours of the various rank tiers, restarting the game, etc., but there's only ever a huge blank space between the score and the "Personal Best" percentage at the bottom on the right side.

For my style of play, a live rank display is even more crucial than the actual score, as if I see I'm slacking off at the lower end of the SS tier, I can pull up my socks and work to get back up to around 93-94%. Without it, I have no idea how well I've done until the end screen pops up. So if you can think of anything that would be causing Rank to refuse to display, please let me know. You'd be my hero! ;-)

Hiding Multiplier option doesn't work

The multiplier counter is still visible after turning the option to hide it on. I've reinstalled the mod and removed my config file, but it still doesn't work. I've manually checked the config file and it says HideMultiplier = True as expected (my config file).

My latest log shows a warning on line 375: Can't remove the Multiplier counter!

Mod does not appear in ModManager (outdated GameVersion target in manifest.json?)

Describe the Bug
After the latest update Counters+ doesn't show up in ModAssistant, despite that being the proclaimed installation method.

Probable Culprit
I don't mod for Beat Saber but I assume you have to declare compatibility with each new game version. The file manifest.json declares version 1.9.0, when the latest is 1.11.1.

I have downloaded the mod manually and verified that it works seemingly without issue, so it's probably really just about the version bump.

It's a shame; I played for a while without it and felt completely lost with the vanilla game UI! I assume a lot of people use ModAssistant to install the mod and are just as unhappy to see it gone.

Multiplier ring effect not hidden

When setting the multiplier hidden, the effect when you reach a higher multiplier will still show. This is on the latest release you just pushed.

Performance concern on CutCounter due to using List<int>.Average()

Describe the Bug
With the 1.5.7 update, CutCounter has been updated to reuse its old implementation of calling .Average() on a List. This is a potential performance concern on maps with high note count and high note density (e.g. Freedom Dive V2).

Consider:

  1. Dynamic arrays can resize at anytime when you call .Add(), which can cause a random performance hit on a single frame.
  2. Calling .Average() every note cut results in the game having to sum all the elements on each cut. This runtime will scale with the size of the array O(n), which means it will take longer to process on maps with large number of notes (e.g. Freedom Dive V2). On maps with high note density, cuts are happening very frequently, and this sets up the potential to cause the game to lag or hang.

Instead:
Adding the note score to a running total, and then dividing by total notes cut. This is much faster from a performance perspective, as it runs in O(1) per note hit. Also, it seems unnecessary to keep a running history of the notes cut, as that info is not being used anywhere. (Is there some underlying problem that you are trying to avoid?)

Progress counter positioning in base game mode

Describe the Bug
When the Progress counter is using the BaseGame mode, it seems to always be using the default position (below multiplier) instead of the desired one (e.g. below energy). Using another mode, for example Original, makes the positioning work.

Counters in demos non functional

With the new ScoreSaber updates, many of the counters no longer work during demo replay (average cut, percentage, probably more I haven't tested). If this is something you cannot fix it would be nice if you could disable the non functional counters, instead of them displaying 0.

Enabling Counters+ causes energy bar to be affected by debris distortion effects

Describe the Bug

When reduced debris is enabled and Settings -> Advanced Graphics -> Screen Distortion Effects is also enabled, Counters+ seems to cause the energy bar to be affected by the distortion effects. The whole energy bar will "vibrate"/displace with every note slice. This is visible in both the Camera+ rendering and the HMD. If Counters+ is disabled via the menu option, then the energy bar behaves normally and stays in place.

I've tested this with a clean installation and only the following mods installed:

  • BSIPA 4.0.5
  • CameraPlus 4.1.2
  • Counters+ 1.8.4
  • (SongCore + its dependencies)

Probable Culprit

I've briefly looked over the code and I haven't had any luck finding what might be causing this. It seems that Counters+ doesn't use the energy bar for anything except positioning a counter.

The top two quadrants show the base game behavior with no mods. The energy bar always remains in place regardless of which effects are enabled or which debris mode is used.

The bottom left quadrant shows the problematic behavior when Counters+ is installed. The energy bar will move with each slice of a note. The bottom right quadrant shows that this problem doesn't occur if distortion effects are disabled while Counters+ is enabled.

Additional context

I've also tried building the latest code from the master branch (commit 12e1ca5 at the time of writing) and the behavior is still the same. If there's any other information that's needed, I'd be happy to provide it.

Every time I hit a note correctly the game drops a few frames while the counters+ plugin is installed

Probable Culprit
With the mod updated the only thing i can think of is its just not activating correctly. Maybe some small incompatibility with the new BeatSaber Update.

Right panel in settings menu problems

When you first enter the settings menu after launching the game, there is a massage about how to use the settings menu. Everything works fine first time you enter the menu, but if you went into the menu and change something (i changed progress time left to enable) and then went out to the main menu and back, problems starts popping up. The right side panel is populated with the last menu you had open before exiting before and if you go into the main settings menu and change "April Fools tomfoolery" the setting wont save.

hope this helps, but April fools jokes are bad when users have problems turning it off.

Precision Counter stops counting

I've experienced the bug that my Precision counter sometimes stops working mid way through the song and will only show the Last percentage it has calculated.

Unclear what this is for

It's neither a suggestion nor bug related to code so none of the templates really work.

This repo was listed in the "discoveries" and I was quite confused what this was a mod for. It was listing all kind of counters. I was skimming the page and did see something about notes and arms swinging so I assumed beatsaber.

I've not found any reference to beatsaber so for people randomly coming onto the repo it's quite unclear.

Score Counter Percentage freezing when using seperated Average Cut

Describe the Bug
When Average Cut is activated, together with Seperate Saber Cuts and Seperate Cut Values (Precision 1), the current score counter percentage seems to randomly freeze for a random amount of time. This can best be seen when playing campaign songs with Accuracy requirement, as there tends to be a huge difference between the 2 Score percentages, when the counters+ one freezes.
The raw score is increasing, it's just the percentage being off.

Score Counter does not scale past 20 setting

Score Counter does not resize/scale past 20 with other counters on the same canvas.

I'm trying to setup a Combo/Score overlay on the platform. I can't seem to get combos down there but can get score and progress. I have notes and score counter on the same canvas but noticed score doesn't scale in size past 20 like the other notes counter does.

Describe the Bug
There are 2 issues here:

  1. Without the personal best counter, the score counter places itself significantly lower than it should be.
  2. Rank does not display regardless of placement.

Probable Culprit
It's probably something specific to score counter. Dependencies are all latest (SiraUtil 1.0.2 and BSML 1.3.5 from Mod Assistant, BSIPA 4.1.0 from GitHub). Of note, minor version of Mod Assistant dependencies is higher than the release page asks for, but I would hope/assume this isn't the issue.

Been seeing this issue since 2.0.0 release. Didn't have the problem in the RC. Adding the personal best counter puts the score counter in the right place but the rank still doesn't show.

Bonus bug
The miss counter is not visible through the floor in Linkin Park. Honestly it doesn't bother me enough to reproduce and file another issue but if you know an easy fix have at it.

Accuracy counter being slightly off

Describe the Bug
At the end of a song, the accuracy counter seems to be slightly off (often ~0.1% diff) compared to the actual percentage of the Personal Best counter and ScoreSaber leaderboards percentage afterwards.

[Suggestion] README

Please put a note inside the README that mentions that:

  • For the Score Counter, if the Advanced HUD is not enabled, if the "Override" is enabled, it will show just the score (no rank). Else, if the "Override" is disabled, it will show just the rank (no score).
  • For the Progress Counter, if the Advanced HUD is not enabled and the "Base" type is chosen, no counter will show up.

This started happening when I deleted one of my HUDs. When I click Counters+ under the mods tab, Its starts the tutorial. Then I have to restart the game because I cant do anything but pause and unpause. I haven't tried completing the tutorial when this happens though.

Time Remaining under the Multiplier from Advanced HUD disappears when I enable CountersPlus

When I enable CountersPlus, the Time Left display disappears. It's not being overlaid by any of the new counters, it's just not there.

Probable Culprit
Honestly, I'm most generally an idiot, so it's probably something that I'm (not) doing.

Current % amount ain't accurate to what is actually achieved in game.

Counters+ is not accurate with current amount of % (Also if you haven't cleared a song before your "previous" score is far more accurate then the current amount)

The cause of this is genuinely unknown to me because it used to work just fine and be accurate to the decimal.

The right window only displays the total score, not the percentage and grade, 95% and SS are not displayed

Counters dont update after changing in settings

Counters+ does work unless you start tweaking, while moving stuff around, it wont change on screen, restarting the game, turning the mod on or off, making a new config, nothing works

Wrong missed count in replay mode

The "missed notes" counter sometimes registers missed notes when in fact you haven't missed any. I can't understand what makes this error to take place, since it literally happens randomly, and it's also inconsistent throghout various replays (the wrong count takes place in different points of the song). You can find a good example in this video, where i've actually passed the song with a fc but the missed counter is set to 4 for some reason. This only happens in replay mode.
