Isn't an issue, just a warning about ultimatefishbot HOT 14 OPEN

Wait, are you guys sure it's safe to use the bot ? Even the creator affirmed that it wasn't safe anymore so why bother ?

@Electrodog Were you afk at the time? Or did they just straight up ban you while fishing?

Basically, I tested it for 10 minutes, but it doesn't seem to work properly since the bobber icon is different so I just gave up. I logged off, came back like maybe 4 hours later, and I was banned for 180 days, 21 hours and 57 minutes. Which means that they didn't ban me instantly, maybe they're doing small ban waves for bots, because in the mail it clearly said that they knew about the bot.

WoW Classic runs on the same engine as Retail so it's unsurprising that they can detect the bot.

Were you using the new and improved version or the old Fishbot? I ask because I've been using the old version (V4.0) for years, and as recently as yesterday on two of my WoW accounts with no bans (yet). As Electrodog posted it doesn't work very well on Classic so I came here to see if anyone else was having problems and saw the scary red letters. I'm suspicious of change so I stuck with the old version of Fishbot and ignored the "new" version.

Yesterday I used V4.0 on Classic for about 30 minutes on both my accounts before throwing in the towel and accepting that it just doesn't work well on Classic. So far both accounts are fine. If that changes I'll post here.

@NonQuixote It's simple, just replace fishIcon35x35.bmp with the Vanilla fish icon and you're good to go.

Sounds great! Where would I find the Vanilla bobber icon?

@NonQuixote Hover over the bobber in-game and take a screenshot, then crop it to same size as the original fishIcon35x35.bmp in the Resources folder? Probably easiest.

Hey Kamil, looked in the Resources folder but saw no files other than English and Francais. Bear in mind that I'm using V4.0 and not V4.5xx.

@NonQuixote It's still there, but you would have to build from source instead of downloading the zip/.exe. I guess a little more complicated then just replacing the file in the folder for 4.5xx, but you can just replace this icon and build the project. (If you know how)

@NonQuixote Any update? Did you ever build from source and try on Classic. Are you still using 4.0 on retail with no issues?

@St4tikk I never took a shot at building a new bobber. I haven't used the FB 4.x on retail for a while now (taking a break) but I used it at least a few dozen times before and after my last post with all three accounts, and none got smacked with a ban. To be fair, I rarely fish for more than an hour at a time, and never afk when I do.

@Electrodog I'm not saying it's safe or it's not safe. What I am saying is that I used it a fair bit last year on three accounts and never got banned. I've been too busy with RL stuff to play much this year but all three accounts are still alive and happy.

What the bot's author said was that he'd had an unusual amount of people contact him about getting banned for using the bot last year. I personally don't believe that the bot is detectable, but that's just my opinion.

using old version build from source with some changes for ages now on live servers classic severs and so on.
It's not possible to detect unless with some crazy heuristics, (use circular route) ppls who got banned most likely used the precompiled exe, that blizzard just hashed and added to their database.
