universalmediaserver's Introduction

Universal Media Server

Universal Media Server CI Crowdin

Universal Media Server Universal Media Server is a DLNA-compliant UPnP Media Server. It is capable of sharing video, audio and images between most modern devices. It was originally based on PS3 Media Server by shagrath, in order to ensure greater stability and file-compatibility.

Universal Media Server supports all major operating systems, with versions for Windows, Linux and macOS. The program streams or transcodes many different media formats with little or no configuration. It is powered by FFmpeg, MediaInfo, OpenSubtitles, Crowdin, MEncoder, tsMuxeR, AviSynth, VLC and more, which combine to offer support for a wide range of media formats.

universalmediaserver's Issues

Files disappear when resume entries are there

I've been noticing this for a while, it has possibly always been there since we added the resume feature.

Basically the bug is, if you refresh the folder (I did it on PS3 by going to the parent folder, then back in) after you have added or removed files from the folder, the PS3 adds or removes the new files properly but it also removes the original videos if they have "Resume:" equivalents.
For example if the list was this before the refresh:

Apple
Resume: Banana
Banana
Resume: Carrot
Carrot

After the refresh it will be:

Apple
Resume: Banana
Resume: Carrot

Any idea what would cause this, @SharkHunter ?

ID 86 - code.google.com - UMS dosn't use ffmpeg within ums directory

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. no ffmpeg on system installed

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
UMS should use ffmpeg in same dir as UMS.sh. UMS don't use it.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
UMS 3.1.0 Ubuntu 13.04 64bit openjava-7-jre (7u25)

Please provide any additional information below.
To fix this I had use ffmpeg_path, to set proper path. At 3.0.0 It was working ok, in 3.1.0 the config need to be added.

ID 60 - code.google.com - Display name on UPNP client in Samsung TV

What steps will reproduce the problem?

  1. samsung 50" smart tv - built in dlna player
  2. multiple devices with UMS loaded, all sharing
  3. browse list of upnp devices on samsung tv

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

i would hope to be able to change the name of the UMS server from Universal Media Server [PC NAME] to something more like UMS [PC NAME] or even just [PC NAME]. i understand the want for branding and such, but the samsung device slowly scrolls the display name, and by default only shows
Universal M... You have to wait for it, and hope that the input menu does not close due to no selection being made.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Most of my servers are running on Win7 Ultimate/UMS 2.6.1 combo's but i have 2 Win8 boxes with same build. All do the same thing - issue is actually with TV but if i could rename the Universal Media Server [PC NAME] to something shorter this would be resolved.

Please provide any additional information below.

this is not a bug, but a feature request. i love UMS, and thanks for your product!

Flac/Hi Res Audio support for 80GB Sony PS3

I have a 80GB PS3 and ever since the new service agreement with Sony Network (basically Sony hijacks your machine till you agree to their terms) I have been receiving DLNA error 2114. UMS icon shows up onscreen but when selected, the error flashes twice. PS3 Media server was also not working but an update fixed that a few days after the agreement, unfortunately its been well over a year that PS3 Media server still does not support/playback Flac/Hi Res audio files. I was using UMS for Flac playback for a longtime as it played the files, but with the error 2114 I no longer can playback anything but mp3's via PS3 media server. Is there anyway we can get flac, aiff, apple lossless... hi res audio playback with UMS on the PS3? Ironically I used to use my PS3 to playback everything (as it was the "can do everything machine") for many years before, now there seems to be more and more problems. Would be great to have an Audiophile Media Streaming app, that was dedicated to playing uncompressed music and music only.

Searching for renders work different in Linux and Windows version of UMS

  1. Is the Issue Reproducible? If so what are the steps:
  1. install clean ums
  2. turn on tv and ums
  1. What is the observed output?
renders on linux ain't searched corectly

  2. What version of UMS are you using?
3.1.2.1 (the oldest 3.0 i used had same problem)

  3. What operating system, hardware, and GFX card are you running UMS?
    ubuntu 13.04 64bit, LG LM620S

  4. What is your LAN configuration like: 10/100/1000MB wired? wireless a/b/g/n? Firewalls?
    1GB wired

  5. What Renderer are you trying to Stream / Transcode too? Is it, by default, recognized by UMS? Are you using a Custom CONF?
streaming to LG LM620S, the UMS see it as LA644V (not working correct), and windows see it as LG Updater (correct settings)

  1. Additional info

The Default Windows version of UMS show this tv as: LG Smart TV Upgrader (LGST600.conf)
The Default Linux version of UMS show this tv as: 42LA644V (LG-42LA644V.conf)

LG-42LA644V.conf
UserAgentSearch=LGE_DLNA_SDK
UserAgentAdditionalHeaderSearch=42LA644V

LGST600.conf
UserAgentSearch=LGE_DLNA_SDK

My TV aint 42LA644V but it looks like that version 3.+ on linux dont check the "additionalHeader" Just use the first file from renders/
This can be fix using "ignored_renderers" in conf, but this should work similar to windows version.
