@prayagnshah the investigation is still ongoing, apologies for the delay. Our editorial team has built up a bit of a backlog of tasks over the summer, and many members went on annual leave at some point as well. I imagine it should be done soon though, as most have returned from their annual leave for instance. I'll post a reminder on this scope review to our editors now. (Note that the AEiC on this track is officially @gkthiruvathukal, but I'm jumping in on occasion to help out.)

Thanks, @Kevin-Mattheus-Moerman (for also being awesome in general). It has been a busy summer and beginning of semester to say the least. I am hoping to catch up soon.

@prashjha the AEiC in this track is @gkthiruvathukal. However, I am here helping out here to help with initial steps. For the moment you can try to address the above paper compilation error. I believe it relates to the fact that you paper YAML lacks any entry for affiliations:
, if you add that the error may be resolved. Separately I believe think you can remove the equal-contrib
parts as these seem not needed in your cause (I do not think this is causing the error though).
Secondly you may try to address the potential DOI issues identified by our system ☝️ , you can edit your .bib file and call @editorialbot check references
here to check them again, also you can call @editorialbot generate pdf
to update the paper.
Finally, given the relatively small size of this submission, I am going to ask the board for help to determine if this work is in scope for JOSS. The scope review will determine if this work conforms to out substantial scholarly effort criteria. This scope review usually takes about 2 weeks to complete.
Let me know if you have any questions.

@prayagnshah – many thanks for your submission to JOSS. Unfortunately, after review by the JOSS editorial team we've determined that this submission doesn't meet our substantial scholarly effort criterion.
The feeling of the editorial team was that this package doesn't seem to provide enough value, nor differentiate itself from other tools at this moment but we would encourage the authors to extend the package and submit later.
One possible alternative to JOSS is to follow GitHub's guide on how to create a permanent archive and DOI for your software. This DOI can then be used by others to cite your work.
