dspellcheck's Issues

Feature request: CamelCase spell check in code

Common behavior for spell checkers that are intended for coding is to turn off checking for everything except comments and strings.
But in quite a lot of software projects, function and variable names consist of plain ordinary English words, often in camel case, such as OnEventReceive( trigger ). Why can't we have those spell-checked, too, only in a novel way?
The idea: If a word is inside a code area, just split it up at the word boundaries marked by the case changes before sending the chunks to the underlying spell-checker (Hunspell or Aspell). In our example, you would send "on", "event", and "received", so, no problem.
If they return for any of the chunks that it is misspelled, mark the function or variable name as misspelled and generate suggestions based on concatenating the suggestions.
For example, if I mistype "OnEventReceive" as "OnEventRecieve", I would expect the following to happen: Aspell suggests "receive" as replacement for "recieve", while not complaining about the other two chunks. As a result, DSpellCheck suggests "OnEventReceive".
I think that could save quite a bit of hassle, in particular when working with a multi-national team.
Obviously, it must be made optional though, because for some projects it won't make sense at all.

Underling style automatically change

Hello, I have some annoying bug. In option I set for underling style:

  • red
  • squiggle

And its work fine, when make error the words use this style. But if I minimize program and back to full window color red is chagne to blue and squiggle to plain. In Settings its still red and squiggle but in Npp window its changed. I must restart Npp or click Apply in Settings.

Maybe some plugin break this, if necessary I add more information.

DSpellCheck interferes with copying

When I highlight a line in Notepad++ v. 6.5.2 such as

xxx the quick brown fox

then right-click it in preparation for copying, and DSpellCheck thinks the first word is misspelled, the highlighting is removed from all but that first word and when one clicks copy, only the first word is copied. If any other word is misspelled, e.g.

The xxx brown fox

the whole line is copied as expected. I don't know whether the problem lies with NPP or DSpellCheck, but it can be quite frustrating.

Feature request: Make languages accessible from the menu

There are probably millions of people on the planet who have to switch between English and their native language several times a day. For them, an easy way to switch between languages is the key to usability in a spell-checker.
If the available languages were displayed in a sub-menu (rather than on the options dialog), I believe it would make switching a lot easier and faster.

Bulgarian dictionary breaks Notepad++

Hi,
I am trying to add a bulgarian dictionary to the plugin. currently doing it manually due to the missing proxy configuration. After I copy the bg_BG.dic and bg_BG.aff files in the Hunspell folder I get a failure when I select the bu7lgarian dictionary from the configuration. The whole notepad++ hangs. I am with the latest version of teh plugin. Coudl you lpease check what could be causing the problem.
If you need some help just let me know.

default ini file for new users in a multi user environment

The combination of DSpellCheck and notepad++ has issues in a multi user environment. The npp installer places a preconfigured dspellcheck.ini into the %APPDATA% folder of the installing user. Every other user that logs into the machine, doesn't have this file and therefore no ready to use spellchecker.

A possible solution could be a check if the %APPDATA% ini file exists and if not, copy over a preconfigured one (maybe from \Notepad++\plugins).

Context menu mode bug.

Context menu is being displayed somewhere not in the position of initial mouse click if mouse was moved after it.

Feature request:support custom shortcuts?

The shortcut of Spell Check Document Automatically is Al+N which is in conflict with Light Explorer.Right now I just removed the DSpellCheck to enable the shortcut of Light Explorer.

Single quotation mark in English '

Hi again.

I've run into a problem while checking an English text.

You can have the words it's, ladies', 'tis (short for it is) in a single text. It seems to be impossible to solve spellchecking of such text with changing "separators" field in plugin settings.

I think that some workaround is required for such situation.

Implement (probably optional) whole document rechecking since it would look nicer with jN plugin.

I find it very convenient to use the Autocheck feature to reduce the number of misspellings in my code comments. I (and several colleagues) find the red "bars" to the right a bit annoying. Many of us use the highlight feature the jN Notepad++ Plugin and then the bars from the DSpellCheck kinda gets in the way.

So an option to Show/hide these bars would be most welcome.

Regards,
Anders Bergåker

Single quotation marks and stuff

Now they are working wrong, there's 2 things:

  1. If the word in single quotation marks is underlined, then quotation marks are underlined too
  2. If the word is being changed to some suggestion, they will be removed (it is especially wrong!)
TODO: Add another category for such stuff, like delimiters depending on position in a word because it's neither conversion, never ignoring setting.

Memory Usage Tweak: Don't load dictionaries that aren't in use

I've about 10 dictionaries installed, and notepad++ is using about 100 megabytes of memory, which seems to be quite huge for me.
I think this is caused by the loaded dictionaries. Can you make DSpellCheck to load dictionaries on the language change, not on the startup?

Multiple Languages

Hi.
Hope this is the right place to report this, I'm sorry if it's not.

I have selected English (US) and Norwegian, and if I select some text and then rightclicks my selection is removed.
The result is that when I try to copy text, nothing is copied to the clipboard.

If I select only English or only Norwegian it is working fine.

Customizable hotkeys

Hi!

I'd like to ask you to add option to customize DSpellCheck hotkeys.
Default hotkeys (Alt + N, Alt + B) are already taken in my environment. Alt keys is also used in Il'ya Birman's keyboard layout.
Most of the hotkeys in N++ use Ctrl + something combo.

Unicode delimiters breaks ANSI encoded documents

The default list of delimiters contains a few Unicode characters, however if the document is using ANSI encoding they match ordinary characters like 'c', 'h', and 'g'.
delimiters
Using:
,.!?":;{}()[]/=+-^$<>|#$@%&
instead of the default:
,.!?":;{}()[]/=+-^$
<>|#$@%&…№—«»–•©›“”·
makes it work as intended. No issues if the document is using UTF-8.

There is no support to work behind proxy

HI,
The plugin is pretty nice. However i am trying to use it at work but I am not able to download any dictionaries as it fails to resolve the host. Is it possible to make a way to point a proxy server to be used when downloading dictionaries.

Plugin breaks scrolling

This plugin breaks scrolling in notepad++ using a mouse wheel. It will scroll left but nothing else.

Version 1.2.8 breaks N++ menus

Version 1.2.8 seems to cause N++ to freeze for good 10 to 20 seconds when trying to open any menu bar item with only default plugins installed that come along with v. 6.4.5 and v6.5 of N++ and Light Explorer v2.0. A 12 second lag occurs when opening the plugins menu. Highlighting any menu item that has sub items also freezes the menu for a few seconds.

A accessing plugin manager from the menu to remove this plugin becomes impossible since the menu closes after the lockup ends when plugin manager is highlighted. The only option seems to be uninstalling N++ and reinstalling it without spell checker.

This issue does not exist in v1.2.7 and I reverted back to it when using v6.4.5 of N++ but now this v1.2.8 installed by default with v6.5 of N++ (forgot to uncheck it).

Running on Win7 64-bit.

Feature request: show Aspell errors in a dialog window

The other day I had my user dictionary for Aspell in the wrong encoding. The command-line version of Aspell warned me that there were illegal characters in the user dictionary.
DSpellCheck didn't issue any error message, it just didn't underline anything. That was confusing. In the beginning I thought it just took longer than usual to load the main dictionary.
To reproduce, add a character to the user dic that Aspell doesn't understand.
I don't know if the DLL supports this, but it would be nice to have a dialog window with some sort of warning in case Aspell fails to initialize, ideally with an error description if that is possible. TIA, Jan

Find LibreOffice and/or Firefox dictionaries

It would be very nice if the plug-in could find the LibreOffice or Firefox dictionaries that are already installed on the pc. These products use Hunspell. I think quite some N++ users also have one of these products installed.

LibreOffice: C:\Program Files (x86)\LibreOffice 4.0\share\extensions\dict-*\

Firefox dictionaries are a bit more complex to find because the default language (Dutch in my case) comes with the browser and is in C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\dictionaries, but the languages I added (like English) are in the user profile: C:\Users\Frank\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\6tujqnz2.default\extensions\[email protected]\dictionaries
I assume Thunderbird works similar, don't know because I don't use Thunderbird.

On my old pc at home I have 32-bit XP, so here they are in the normal C:\Program Files\ directory. I don't know where the words added to the user dictionary are stored, but remember that not everybody can write in program files directories.

According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hunspell Chrome uses Hunspell as well, but in my Chrome directory are *.bdic dictionaries. Found http://dev.chromium.org/developers/how-tos/editing-the-spell-checking-dictionaries where they say that *.bdic are their own optimized hunspell dictionaries, so they won't help your plug-in.
