Please update the existing blog post:

Several of the blog posts from the last year (including one I posted) do not follow the protocol of using youtube-nocookie for embedding.
There is also a link to the youtube iframe api in the footer which might be dropping a cookie, but I'm not sure if we can get rid of it.
From #78 (comment) by @v4hn
I just tried to follow your howto, but I keep getting a red box saying "must be unicode, not str" whenever I enter "moveit" (or anything else) into the input field for interesting tags.
Hm, I see the same. Filed ros-infrastructure/answers.ros.org#140
We should hold an announcement #78 (comment) before this issue gets fixed @IanTheEngineer.
In the instructions for using clang-format-10
there is a note about clang-format-3.9
that should probably be removed.
https://moveit.ros.org/install/docker/
In the section
Running MoveIt Containers
To use Rviz (and other GUIs), you probably want to set up hardware acceleration for Docker as described here.
here
is not a link; which I guess it should be?
I think this would work:
https://github.com/snaptortoise/jekyll-rss-feeds
So that moveit can be rendered again on planet-ros
Hi
Where can I found scene file format description. It seems there was a wiki page at http://moveit.ros.org/wiki/Scene_Format , but it is missing right now.

We should account for C++11 in our style guideline.

This repository should really only have one branch, so either gh-pages
or master
should be dropped.
Would be great to have the binary install page allow a hyperlink to a particular operating system instruction set. Right now it always defaults to Ubuntu 18.04, but ideally we could have a url such as install?type=windows
that would open the Windows section of that page (by default hidden by JavaScript).
Working on blog post with Microsoft and this need came up...
I'd like for us to force-push the master history of this repo to remove 51 MB of images that were accidentally committed into the git history:
#250
@henningkayser is currently removing these images on HEAD
#270
But we should also erase it from the history using a tool like:
java -jar bfg.jar --strip-blobs-bigger-than 2M
Anyone object? we'd need to merge/close all other current PRs first.
Would be great to give credit to those who write content for the blog - this can be done easily using jekyl semantic data. PickNik has a good example that @auman66 can easily see the source code for.
This site seems to be the main entry point for moveit docs: https://moveit.ros.org/documentation/
But when you open the docs menu on the top of the website, it looks differently:
The menu of the top has a different order of elements when compared to the page. And the point Planners
is even missing from the page.
http://www.moveit.ros.org/ is broken
Github pages now supports https for custom domains. It should be possible to switch this site over to use https by default and have github redirect all users to https. This will likely require a brief audit of all links and resources but otherwise the site looks like it's mostly compliant already. You can check any existing page by just typing https:// in front of each url.
Add MoveIt Workshop to the "Contribute" menu of moveit.ros.org
-Use text "MoveIt Workshop"
-List above "World MoveIt Day"
-Links to https://moveit.ros.org/moveit/ros/2019/09/19/moveit-workshop-macau.html
Replace the MoveIt homepage announcement (currently about World MoveIt Day) with an announcement about the MoveIt Workshop.
-Use the text "First annual MoveIt Workshop is November 2!
-Add link to https://moveit.ros.org/moveit/ros/2019/09/19/moveit-workshop-macau.html
Browsing the site I noticed that my browser is blocking doubleclick on moveit.ros.org
https://gist.github.com/tfoote/3dfcbfc00f9775a55335b6e5a3d6f968
It seems to be related to an embedded video player.
Github pages has support for this now: https://help.github.com/articles/atom-rss-feeds-for-github-pages/
Planet.ros.org's moveit feed is 404 at the moment.
I believe historically Github pages required you host your website from gh-pages
branch, but more recently they support a regular old master
branch. Because we use master for everything else on the MoveIt project including the tutorials, it would be nice to do the same for our website.
Notably, we use Github pages for picknik.ai and we use a master
branch there, and it works great.
The only side effect of this switch will be that we have to retarget open PRs. However, I just went through and merged most of them.
Once we're low on open PRs for this repo, I think we should switch the name of the 'master' branch over per moveit/moveit#2213
./build_locally.sh
doesn't work on Ubuntu 16.04 with the packaged version of Ruby. These instructions worked to install the required version: https://linuxize.com/post/how-to-install-ruby-on-ubuntu-18-04/
Should we link to (or describe) how to update ruby in the readme instead of the notice about 16.04 holding us back?
It would be nice to have a page collection of related code projects/plugin on the website.

After opening a blog post, the date is not visible at the top
For example: https://moveit.ros.org/moveit/ros/2019/09/19/moveit-workshop-macau.html
I would like it to have the date like we do for picknik's website:
https://picknik.ai/moveit/ros/2019/09/20/moveit-workshop-macau.html
It seems that clang-format-3.8 is not available on Ubuntu 18.04 with the following command.
sudo apt-get install python-wstool python-catkin-tools clang-format-3.8
We will want to update the instructions on the install from source page

e.g. Latest package for PR2 is Hydro, which is simply wrong (Indigo is the answer).
The info is maintained in this repository instead of automatically pulling in from e.g. each robot's package.
Not about website at all but let me be open here.
For both of the following Google Groups has an option to realize.
I think some of the current moveit active maintainers should also get admin rights.
@JafarAbdi is working with Peter to implement this
Seems we should simplify the binary and source installation pages somehow:
what do other projects do?
https://help.github.com/articles/adding-a-cname-file-to-your-repository/
Until this is done moveit.ros.org will be a 404
All links to sites outside of moveit.ros.org should have a target="_blank"
in the <a href...>
so they open in a new tab.
The beta version of Moveit! has been released for ROS Melodic (yay!) according to the page:
http://moveit.ros.org/moveit!/ros/2018/05/23/firstmelodicrelease.html
But the installation guide webpage ( http://moveit.ros.org/install/) doesn't contain the instructions for installation on ROS Melodic.
We'd like to create a left side nav similar to the install page but for technical guidelines. The nav would include for now:
Currently, the press kit is not linked in a menu (I'd prefer about) as far as I can see. The only reference I found on the page itself was at the bottom of the code style guide page.
Setup this plugin https://jekyllrb.com/docs/collections/

Benefits: alphabetization easier, changing People's status easier, more stable code

@mintar ?
We need to remove the two events on the Contribute menu (WMD and MW) and instead have a single link for 'Events' on that menu
That page will then go to a 'filtered' blog page, that only shows posts that have the 'events' tag used
In this way, we can write blog posts for events that show up both on the blog and on the events page, all at once
Motion planning should have a capital 'P'
Not really moveit.ros.org topic but I didn't want to pullute developers repo moveit for an admin topic like this.
moveit-users mailinglist is still using standalone groups.google.com. As lots of mailinglist has shifted to discourse.ros.org, do we want to do that?
Personally I'm +1 for migration; being able to find discussions at one place makes search far easier
(even with Google, e.g. I had to spend a few minutes to find the recent call-for-montage thread. If it were on discource I could've found in instantly).
If we want then what's the step? Maybe we'll just ask Tully?
Replace homepage banner link. Change from MoveIt Workshop to World MoveIt day page.
Text: "Signup for World MoveIt Day 2019 on Nov. 20th!"
Travis recently reports two broken links:
These are rather old links, which became unavailable only recently. Somebody should replace or remove them.
